Pre-sale cleaning checklist for listing-ready homes

Listing photos show every streak, and buyers open every cabinet. Here's what to clean before the photographer arrives.

Before photos

  • Windows and mirrors streak-free
  • Kitchen counters cleared and polished
  • Fixtures and faucets shining
  • Baseboards and doors wiped
  • Light bulbs working and fixtures dusted

Before showings

  • Inside cabinets and appliances
  • Bathrooms detailed, fresh towels out
  • Entry and front door clean
  • Floors vacuumed and washed
  • A final walk-through, room by room

Pro tip

Book the full clean a day or two before photos, then a quick touch-up before the first open house.
